WEEK #27

K5 & 1st grade this week learned how to use their body by using balloons. We started class playing Balloon Tag. Here we learned about sharing and helping others while learning how to move in general space. We then practiced our hand eye coordination by striking the balloon with many different body parts. To finish class we played  Balloon Tag again.
2nd grade this week used recycled milk jugs as baseball gloves. We practiced this skill of catching an object with an object. We started class with a cardiovascular activity called Mosquito tag. We then manipulated the milk jugs by catching yarn balls many different ways. We then ended class playing an activity called Flurry Ball.

3rd grade this week started learning how to use their body by learning some volleyball skills. This week we learned about serving. We learned about why you serve, and we then practiced how to do the underhand serve. To start class, we played Smoking Tag. Next, we went over serving and praticed the skill. We ended class playing a serving actvity called Serve Over.

5th grade begun class playing a cardiovascular activity called True & False. We then went over underhand rolling and finished class playing Berserk, a rolling activity where you roll various types of balls at bowling pins. It's an activity played on a basketball court where if you're inbounds then you're out of bounds. The kids love this game!!

6th grade continued their bowling unit. This week we continued to learn the 3 step approach while also learning about the arrows on a bowling lane. We then finished up our Bowling Bingo games from last week,  however this week we turned off the lights and had moonlight bowling.
7th/8th grade this week warmed-up with an activity called Red or Black. We then went over real bowling scoring. The students then continued practicing the 3 step approach while learning how to keep each other's bowling score.

WEEK #26

K4 &  K5 this week exercised with balloons!! We started class playing Balloon Tag. We then practiced striking the balloon with our body parts. We used one body part at a time and mutiple body parts at a time. We also pretended to play soccer, football, baseball, volleyball, basketball, and bowling with the balloons. We then ended class playing Balloon Tag again.
2nd grade this week got the chance to play with indoor frisbees. We started class playing a warn-up game called Not Me. We then played Snowball Fight and ended class playing Flyer Bowl.
3rd grade this week took a break from units and team sports. I remind my students all the time that you don't have to be an athlete to be healthy and fit. So this week, we warmed-up playing Deal or No Deal. We then played a rolling activity called Pin Guard. Here we learned and practiced the skill of rolling.
4th & 5th grade this week also took a break form team sports and units. Our warm-up activity was a hula hoop activity called Going for the Gold. We then ended class playing Dead Bug.

6th grade started their bowling unit. We first discussed the health benefits of participating in bowling. We then went over the grip and the basic 3 step approach. We then finished class playing High Frame.
7th/8th grade this week continued with their bowling unit. We started class with a warm-up activity called Deal or No Deal and/or Dice. We then reviewed the 3 step approach along with how to play Bowling Bingo

WEEK #25

K4 & K5 this week learned and practiced the skill of catching an object with another object. To make this possible, we used recycled milk jugs with the bottums cut out. We started class with a movement song called The Balancing Act.  Next we manipulated the milk jugs by doing various toss and catch tricks. We then finished class playing an activity called Try to Catch a Snowman.
1st grade this week started class with a warm-up game called Not Me. We then played Snowball Fight and Flyer Bowl where we had to practice the skill of sidearm throwing with foam frisbees.

3rd grade this week continued with their basketball unit without playing the actual game of basketball. This week we reviewed the skill of passing with an activity called Sharks. We then reviewed the skill of dribbling by doing activities called Bean Bag Dribble and Dribble Flag Tag.
5th grade's Five Levels of Fitness warm-up was called Deal or No Deal. We then finished class playing an activity called Scooterball Basketball.  We combined the skills of dribbling, passing, and shooting with an activity everyone can play.

6th grade finally finished their Five Levels of Fitness Unit with a TEST. Yes, there are tests in Physical Education class. The only part I dislike about the test is that it wastes a whole day of class to finish. We could have spent the day exercising!!!!!

7th/8th grade this week started their bowling unit. This week we went over the grip and the 3 step approach. We finished class playing High Frame.
